MISSION STATEMENT
of the
Maritime
Group 7 Club
Proposal:
-
To establish a Specialty
Club for all breeds in Group 7.
-
To host one Specialty
conformation show and one obedience trial each year on a rotating basis.
The provinces being New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

To host the Specialty
in conjunction with an all-breed club in one of the provinces.
Purpose:
-
Reverse the trend of dwindling
entries to numerous conformation show and obedience trials in the Maritimes.

Begin with a conformation
show and obedience trial hosted in conjunction with an area club.
-
As this club becomes established,
we will progress to other activities such as agility, herding tests &
trials, and fly ball.

Establish a Breeders Directory
-
Encourage and support
breeder education and sound breeding practices as recommended by the Canadian
Kennel Club.

Be an active and visible
presence in the community as role models of responsible dog ownership for
Individuals, Municipalities, Provinces and the National level:

Pet Therapy by doing hospital
/ nursing home visitations.

Public Education through
mall presentations with information handouts.

Encourage newcomers to
become involved in CKC events through formal (shows & trials) and informal
(fun matches / education / social events) activities.

Encourage and foster friendship
with others with similar interests and to explore more ways to have fun
with our dogs.

Establish a fully functional
club with an elected executive, a constitution and code of ethics; a slate
of committees to plan and execute the proposed objectives of the club in
accordance with the membership's collective goals.

Documentation of all activities
in accordance with the requirements of the Canadian Kennel Club.
